- Question 14: Enoch is known as Methuselah's father and for what other reasons is he distinguished among the patriarchs before the Flood?
- Answer: Enoch was a righteous man who "walked with God" as Noah did (Gen 6:9) and attained the perfect age of the solar year, 365 years. At the end of his life he was carried off by God, apparently not suffering an earthly death. He is held up in Jewish and Christian traditions as a model of piety (see Sirach 44:16; 49:14 Jude vs. 14-15).
- Question 15: What other Biblical personage was blessed like Enoch, not suffering an earthly death but being directly assumed into heaven?
- Answer: The 9th century BC prophet Elijah (see 2 Kings 2:11ff).
